Painting in my studio in Oregon
Nancy has always been an artist at heart. As a child, she received gifts of art supplies and easels. After college, her busy career as a civil engineer allowed too few occasions to paint. She continued to perfect her artistic craft when time permitted. On Valentines Day, 2000, she moved to an old Christmas tree farm in the coast range hills of Oregon. Nancy retired as a full-time engineer and became a full-time artist and author.
Nancy never tires of traveling through our beautiful country. She and her husband, Glen, travel the backroads and byways of our states when time allows, yearning to discover the feel, tastes and traditions of each area.
Nancy Mink is in love with nature. Seen through the eyes of an optimist and romantic, she paints the world in watercolor washes with a lighthearted touch.
Beauty and wildlife in the hills that surround her home in the great Northwest inspire many paintings.
When not painting or traveling, Nancy loves to garden with her constant canine companion, Calamity Jane (Callie.) Outside her home and studio are stands of Doug Fir and Oak trees over 200 years old, Christmas tree groves, more than 30 fruit trees, 70 blueberry bushes, 4 other types of berry rows, 1/3 acre vegetable garden, small pond and flower gardens. There’s even a wildlife zone that has been landscaped away from the house and barn to attract the critters. Deer, raccoon, possum, coyote, herons, eagles and hawks travel the area. It is a labor of love. Her husband, Glen, is a full time engineer and shares in the joy of gardening and taking care of the little "farmstead" on weekends.
As a professional civil engineer for over twenty-five years, Nancy Mink spent years with blueprints and construction designing hundreds of buildings. When her husband’s job required a transfer, Nancy’s career path changed. They bought some acreage and an older home in the Pacific Northwest. For the first time, she lead a church team of young ladies instead of an architectural review board, trading heels for rubber boots and keeping God and family in the forefront.
We love to camp, hike and kayak in the back country of America
A career of encouragement was born as she felt lead to inspire young women who were torn between staying home to take care of their family and working outside the home. While architectural renderings that Nancy painted for project approvals still grace many office buildings on the west coast, she now paints her gardens and the beauty of the surrounding hills. She is a professional illustrator and author of gift books and magazines. Her artwork is licensed for greeting cards, home decor and calendars. Nancy also speaks and writes to women of her walk with God along life’s twists and turns.  From firsthand experience, she encourages women to stand strong in their faith and to make a home where, at the end of the day, all can sigh,
"ahhh... it is good to be home."
